Day 1(Airport- Chilaw - Kandy) Approx : 4 ½ hrs – 5 hrs
Arrive by (flt no) at (00hrs). Please clear immigration & visa formalities, collect your baggage and proceed to the arrival lounge through the green channel if you do not have goods to be declared to customs. The Green Holiday Centre Representative will page you by your name. Thereafter you will be assisted to the Car park / Coach Park to begin you journey as per the booked itinerary. Proceed to Chilaw to the Muneeshwaram Temple. After his victorious battle, Lord Rama left for Ayodhya, in one of King Ravana’s vimana (carriages). He felt he was being followed by bramhaasthi dosham as he had killed King Ravana who was a Brahmin. Legend has it that when he came to this place he felt bramhaasthi dosham was not following him and he stopped the vimana and asked God Shiva for a remedy. Lord Shiva blessed Lord Rama and advised him to install four lingams there and pray to get rid of the dosham. Since then many Hindu devotees flock to the Temple. Having visited the above temple, proceed to Mannavari Temple. Manavari is the first lingam installed and prayed to by Lord Rama and this lingam is also called Ramalinga Shivan. Afterwards Leave to Kandy, Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic - ever since 4th Century A.D, when the Buddha & Tooth was brought to Sri Lanka hidden from sacrilegious hands in an Orissan princess & hair, the Relic has grown in repute and holiness in Sri Lanka and throughout the Buddhist world. It is considered Sri Lanka & most prized possession. Overnight Stay at Hotel in Kandy.
Day 2(Kandy- Ramboda - Nuwara Eliya) Approx : 2 /12 hrs
After breakfast at the hotel Visit Hanuman Temple. Sri Baktha Hanuman Temple, According to the ancient stories, Ramboda is an area, where the forces of Rama gather to fight against King Ravana. This temple was built by the Chinmaya mission of Sri Lanka and dedicated to Hanuman. This temple houses for 16 feel height statue of Hanuman. Seetha Amman Temple The kidnapping of Sita by Ravana (was King of Lanka) - meant that Ravana had to hide Sita in several locations. The Seetha Amman temple was named after the wife, Sitadevi, of Lord Rama. The structure was built on one of the exact sites where the demon king Ravana held Sita as his captive, in the Ashoka Forests of the region. It is believed that the Lordess used the stream by the temple and meditated by the rocks along the stream. Gayathri Peedam in Nuwara Eliya. It is believed to be the place from where King Ravana’s son Meghanath propitiated Lord Shiva with penance and poojas and in turn was granted super natural powers by lord Shiva. Day 3(Nuwara Eliya- Divurumpola – Ella – Kataragama Approx : 4 ½ hrs – 5 hrs
After breakfast at the hotel proceed to Kataragama, Divurumpola situated in Nuwara Eliya Welimada road.Divurmpola means a place where one takes an oath. Sitadevi, after being liberated from King Ravana was subjected to a test to prove here chastity by offering herself to the fire. Howevershe came unscathed and proved her holiness during this ritual at this place. Proceed to Kataragama Visit Ravana Cave & Ravana Waterfall Visit Kataragama temple In Kataragama, Sri Lanka, is a Hindu and Buddhist temple complex dedicated to Skanda-Murukan also known as Kataragama deviyo. It is one of the few religious sites in Sri Lanka that is venerated by the majoritySinhala Buddhists, minority Hindu Tamils, Muslims and the indigenous Vedda people.It is a collection of modest shrines, of which the one dedicated to Skanda-Murukan also known as Kataragama deviyo is the most important. For most of the past millennia, it was a jungle shrine very difficult to access, but currently is accessible by an all-weather road. Almost all the shrines— and the nearby Kiri Vehera— are managed by Buddhists, apart from shrines dedicated to Tevayani, Shiva (Siva) and the Muslim mosque. Up until the 1940s a majority of the pilgrims were TamilHindus from Sri Lanka and South India, who undertook an arduous pilgrimage on foot. Since then most pilgrims tend to be Sinhala Buddhists, and cult of Kataragama deviyo has become the most popular amongst the Sinhalese people. Overnight stay at Hotel in Kataragama.
Day 4(Kataragama – Ussangoda – Rumassala – Seenigama - Colombo) Approx. : 6 ½ - 7 hrs
After breakfast at the hotel Proceed to Ussangoda. According to Ramayana, after meeting Sitadevi, Lord Hanuman decided to test the strength of the mighty King Ravana and his army of Rakshasas. During the events that unfolded Lord Hanuman’s tail was set on fire by the Rakshasas,and Lord Hanuman in turn went on to torch some parts of King Ravana’s empire.Ussanggoda is on the torched areas, which is said to have been an airport used by King Ravana. There after you will be taken to Colombo, en route visiting the Rumassala in Galle. At various times during the war, both Lords Rama and Lakshmana were hit by powerful arrows, and had fallen unconscious. At these times, Lord Hanuman had been instructed to fetch the life saving herbs from the jungles of Himalaya to bring them back to life. Mighty Hanuman had gone to the Himalayan hills and lifted the whole hill and brought it back, as he was unable to identify the life saving herbs by himself. Parts of the hill is said to have fallen in five places in Sri Lanka, namely, Rumasala in Galle, Dolukanda near Heripitiya, Ritigala near Habarana , Thalladi in Mannar and Kachchativu in the north. Afterwards, visit the Seenigama Temple in Hikkaduwa. The southernmost part of Sri Lanka is called Dondra and further up towards the west you arrive at Seenigama Hikkaduwa. This is said to be the place from where Sugreeva, king of the Vanara’s (monkeys) started his onslaught on King Ravana’s forces. Panchamuga Anjaneyar Temple, which is a temple dedicated to Anjaneyar in Sri Lanka. This is the only temple in the world to have a chariot of Anjaneyar. Overnight stay at a Colombo Hotel.
Day 5(Colombo - Airport) Approx. : 45 min
After breakfast at the hotel proceed to airport for your scheduled flight with so much to remember and cherish one day! If time permits, enjoy a city tour of Colombo. Colombo A drive through the city taking you to the busy commercial areas as well as the tree-lined residential, Cinnamon Gardens.Visit Fort, the former British administrative center and military garrison, Sea Street - the Goldsmith’s quarters in the heart of Pettah, the Bazaar area, where is also a Hindu Temple with elaborate stone carvings, and the Dutch Church of Wolfendhal dating back to 1749. Also visit the BMICH, see the replica of Avukana Buddha and Independence Square Have a safe flight !!!!!
